MRD Rail Technologies

MRD Rail Technologies - Electronic and Electro-Magnetic Equipment

MRD Rail Technologies is a manufacturing company dedicated to developing innovative electronic solutions for industrial applications. We specialise in the design and manufacture of electronic equipment with the emphasis on quality, innovation and state-of-the-art technology.

MRD Rail Technologies has been manufacturing specialised electronic equipment for the rail industry since 1991. Our RelayPro portable automated relay tester is the newest product in our range, and our auto-sensing AC/DC earth leakage detector is the best earth leakage monitoring device for floating busbars on the market.

ELECTRONIC AND ELECTRO-MAGNETIC EQUIPMENT TESTING, REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE

We have a modern electronic testing facility capable of servicing a broad range of electronic and electro mechanical equipment. We have an extensive range of state-of-the-art test and diagnostic equipment at our disposal and can provide a custom test and repair programme for your equipment.

AC/DC EARTH LEAKAGE DETECTOR

MRD's new AC/DC Earth Leakage Detector (ELD) monitors both AC and DC busbars and is auto-sensing, meaning one unit can be ordered and stocked without the need for more factory calibration. The unit self-adjusts to appropriate busbar voltage.

RELAYPRO® AUTOMATED RELAY TESTER

RelayPro™ is an automated relay tester which performs rapid testing and analysis of a relay's operation: simply plug in the relay, select the relay type and press 'test'. RelayPro's auto logic automatically identifies the pass / fail status of relays.

SHUNT BOX

MRD's shunt box is designed to simulate track-circuit resistances in the testing and commissioning of track-feed circuits.

MRD's Bell Megger BM-510 is a continuity tester for point-to-point wiring verification and includes earth leakage detection of the wiring being tested. The high-voltage DC source is regulated to provide a stable reference for insulation breakdown resistance detection.

PRECISION SHUNT

MRD's 20k shunt, when placed across multi-meter leads, increases the load impedance. This helps dampen low-level noise and unwanted signals caused by inductive / capacitive coupling which would otherwise give false or misleading readings. The 20k shunt is useful when measuring leakage current to ground on isolated transformers, etc.

TURNKEY DESIGN AND MANUFACTURE

MRD Rail Technologies have successfully developed several products for the rail industry which we continue to manufacture today. Our extensive manufacturing facilities make it possible for us to complete a project in-house from design stage to final product, including packaging and testing. These facilities include:

  • Experienced design engineers
  • Engineering design software
  • Electronic design software
  • Printed circuit-board prototyping equipment
  • Surface mount assembly / rework soldering station
  • Anti-static rooms / dust-free area
  • Qualified and experienced technicians
  • Wide range of electronic test equipment
  • Wide range of electronic and mechanical components in stock
  • Comprehensive component data and performance specifications
  • Qualified machinists
  • Extron CNC machining centre
  • Welding equipment – arc, MIG, aluminium and steel
  • Metal cutting equipment – guillotine, grinders, band saws, circular saws, routers and metal-shaping tools
  • Electro-hydraulic 30t press
  • Quality assurance systems and procedures

ISO 9001-CERTIFIED SYSTEMS

We have applied the standards and systems set out in ISO 9001. It is our policy to continually review these systems to improve them whenever and wherever necessary.
