Rowsley

The government of Victoria has announced that the first train tracks have been laid on the new 1km crossing loop at Rowsley, Australia.

The loop will help increase service reliability and punctuality. In addition, the loop will allow for the addition of more trains to ensure services develop with growing communities on the Ballarat line.

Victoria minister for public transport Jacinta Allan said: "It’s great to see the first tracks laid on this critical project, which will improve the reliability of Ballarat line services.

"The new crossing loop will provide another point for trains to pass each other. This will help services recover from unexpected delays more quickly, meaning trains will turn up on time more often."

Laying of tracks and sleepers on the new crossing loop follows announcements by the government regarding further train service restorations, as well as the addition of another carriage to Ballarat line services.

Allan further noted: "The project will also upgrade the Rowsley Station Road level crossing, installing boom gates to make it safer for motorists, passengers and the local community.

"It’s been a tough few months for Ballarat line passengers. We recognise that, apologise for that, and are hard at work restoring services and investing in the infrastructure we need for better services in the future."

The track-laying project, which is being delivered by V/Line, is set to complete by mid-2016.
