Infrastructure Ontario (IO) and Metrolinx have issued a request for proposals (RFP) to three shortlisted teams in relation to the design, construction, financing, operations and maintenance of the Hurontario Light Rail Transit (LRT) project in Ontario, Canada.
The teams were selected following a request for qualifications issued in October last year, based on their construction, design, operation and maintenance capability, experience, qualified personnel and financial capacity to deliver the project.
Hurontario LRT's development will involve the construction of roughly 20km of new dedicated rapid transit networks between Port Credit GO Station in Mississauga and Gateway Terminal in southern Brampton.
The shortlisted teams will be required to submit their proposals to IO and Metrolinx later this year after responding to the initial RFP.
The contract is expected to be awarded next year, when construction on the line is also due to begin.
Hurontario LRT will comprise 22 stops and connections to GO Transit's Milton and Lakeshore West lines, and is expected to provide a faster transportation alternative and reduce road congestion across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area.
