US-based Patriot Rail Company’s subsidiary Lakeshore Railcar Services has acquired the assets of United Transportation Group (UTG) as part of plans to expand its rail services portfolio.
UTG specialises in rail tank car and tanker truck cleaning.
The 34-acre, full-service, logistics support Lakeshore facility is in East Chicago, Indiana, 20 miles south-east of downtown Chicago, Illinois.
Patriot Rail president and CEO John Fenton said: "Patriot Rail is no longer just a company made up of individual short line railroads.
"We now offer a full range of services that allows us to develop customised, cost-effective rail transportation plans for customers, on and off our rail lines.
“Providing a 'one-stop shop' for customers simplifies what can be a very complicated railroad supply chain and ultimately saves them time and money."
