BAM has secured a contract worth €90m from the Dutch infrastructure manager ProRail to renovate the Driebergen-Zeist railway station in the Netherlands.
With construction scheduled to begin in spring next year, work includes construction of a new rail station, which will feature energy-efficient systems and solar panels on the platform roofs, BAM said in a statement.
It will also involve a re-design of the station area, where BAM will construct an underpass under the tracks and adjust the local road network near the station to reduce congestion caused by a level crossing of the single carriageway N225 between Zeist and the A12 highway.
The contract will also see BAM renewing the station's rail infrastructure by constructing a further two tracks. In addition, the company will build a new bus station and underground bicycle parking.
ProRail is carrying out the renovation of the Driebergen-Zeist station on behalf of the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment, the Province of Utrecht, and the municipalities of Utrechtse Heuvelrug and Zeist.
Operated by Nederlandse Spoorwegen, Driebergen-Zeist railway station offers intercity train services and local services every hour.
