The China Railway has started operation of its China Standard bullet trains in the Liaoning province.
Also known as electric multiple units (EMU), the trains use a new exterior design and minimises energy consumption.
Train No G8041 is the first passenger service using the China standard EMU trains. With a capacity to reach a speed of 350km per hour, the trains adopt a standard parts design and has good safety features.
China Railway's technological management head Zhou Li said “China independently owns the design of the EMU, and it will be a leading model for China to export to the world.”
International customers in Indonesia, Russia, Iran and India are already using Chinese bullet trains and construction of a 150km high-speed link between Jakarta in Indonesia and Bandung started in January this year.
The link is expected to reduce travel time by about two thirds between these two cities.
