A joint venture between Colas Rail and Morgan Sindall has been contracted by UK Network Rail to refurbish the roof of London’s Paddington station in a £20m project.
Awarded as part of the multi-asset framework agreement, the joint venture will deliver the scheme in partnership with the UK rail infrastructure operator.
The contract aims to enhance the internal appearance and environment of the station, as well as extend the service life of the roof.
Work under the contract covers steelwork to strengthen and repair the original wrought iron structure and decorative scrolls, internal redecoration and improvements to the roof drainage.
Morgan Sindall rail director Neil Barnes said: "We are delighted to have been appointed to the next phase of refurbishment at Paddington station."
"Our team has a wealth of specialist rail experience and will carry out the work from a suspended scaffold above the live railway platforms to ensure the day to day running of the station can continue with minimal disruption."
