CRRC Puzhen Bombardier Transportation Systems (PBTS) has secured a $270m contract to deliver the Bombardier Innovia Monorail 300 platform and a total of 240 railcars to Wuhu City in Anhui Province, China.
PBTS is a joint venture (JV) between Bombardier Transportation and Chinese company CRRC.
Bombardier owns 50% of the shares in PBTS, which is consolidated by the company’s partner firm CRRC Nanjing Puzhen.
The Wuhu’s monorail system is scheduled to open in 2020 and will comprise two lines.
The 30.3km Line 1 will feature a total of 24 stations, while Line 2 will have 12 stations spread across a 16.5km-long route.
PBTS will offer design and supply services under the deal, as well as Line 1 installation comprising 28 six-car trains and Line 2 Phase I installation featuring 18 four-car trains.

The Innovia Monorail 300 system is Bombardier’s latest medium-capacity monorail technology.
It features spacious interiors to improve comfort for commuters, while its inter-car walkthrough facilitates the free flow of passengers and improves overall safety.
In addition, Bombardier’s Chinese JV Bombardier Sifang (Qingdao) Transportation has delivered 184 CRH1A-A next-generation high-speed train cars to China Railway as part of a separate development.
