Harsco Rail has secured a contract from the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) to build 65 flat cars for New York City Transit’s subway in the US.
The seven-year deal is valued at around $40m.
Harsco Rail is expected to start construction immediately for the first flat car and is scheduled to carry out the first delivery by July next year.
Following delivery of the first car, Harsco Rail is expected to deliver two cars a month until 2021.
The cars will be deployed to improve subway performance and passenger ride quality of the New York City subway system, which is currently being constructed.
They are also expected to ensure a safer and more comfortable journey for customers.
