Bombardier Transportation has secured a $98m contract from Albtal-Verkehrs-Gesellschaft (AVG) for the delivery of 20 dual-system Bombardier FLEXITY trams.
The trams will bring the total of AVG’s Bombardier FLEXITY fleet to 62 and are expected to be delivered from May 2020 to March 2021.
Railway infrastructure manager Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI) has signed two contracts with British Steel for the purchase of 86,000t of rail.
British Steel will be responsible for the supply of 18,000t of unique premium stress-free (SF) heat-treated rail and 68,000t of standard-grade rail. The rails to be delivered will have a length of 108m.
The premium SF heat-treated rail will be manufactured at the Scunthorpe facility of British Steel. It is designed to reduce fatigue on curved or heavy haul tracks.
China Railway (CRC) has selected Bombardier Sifang (Qingdao) Transportation (BST) for the delivery of 168 CR400AF high-speed rail cars to CRC.

The train cars to be delivered under the $453m contract will be configured into 15 eight-car trainsets and three 16-car trainsets.
The maximum operating speed of the trains will be 350km/h.
VIA Rail Canada has signed a contract with Siemens Mobility to purchase 32 bi-directional trainsets in a deal worth €650m ($740.7m).
Siemens Mobility will further offer fleet maintenance services for a period of 15 years, under the technical services and spares supply agreement (TSSSA) of the contract.
The existing VIA trains on the Quebec City-Windsor Corridor route will be replaced with the new train sets.
Delivery of the trainsets is anticipated to start in 2021, while service entry is scheduled for 2022.
Stadler has been awarded a contract by Swiss firm Schweizerische Südostbahn (SOB) for the delivery of 12 additional FLIRT trains.
The scope of the contract includes delivery of seven Traverso low-floor eight-car FLIRT trains and five four-car FLIRT trains.
Traverso trains will feature 359 seats, two dedicated dining spaces and a family area.
The trains will be deployed on the Voralpen-Express route from December 2019 and on the Gotthard mountain route in December 2020.
