Capita Travel and Events has teamed up with Australian travel technology firm Seatfrog to allow train passengers to upgrade to first class on certain London North Eastern Railway (LNER) routes.
Passengers who book standard advance tickets through Capita Travel and Events can bid for first class upgrades through the Seatfrog app.
Seatfrog can be downloaded from app stores on both iOS and Android devices. Passengers will have to enter their trip details to view any available upgrades before placing a bid.
Seatfrog prepares a live, dynamic bidding system for first class seats that would otherwise remain empty.
The mobile app combines customer bookings with complex internal systems and allows commuters to bid on empty seats in first class using live, accurate travel information.
Capita Travel and Events rail and ground transportation proposition head Joshua Collier said: “Our partnership with Seatfrog, supported by our relationship with LNER, will enable travellers to upgrade to first class, providing a much more relaxed and productive working environment.”
