By GlobalDataThe NDLS redevelopment, a leading project of the RLDA, is the first to be undertaken on the concept of Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) in India’s Delhi-NCR.
The project will be developed on a DBFOT model at a capital expenditure of approximately $680m.
The new station will be ready in about four years, with the period of concession set for 60 years.
The developer will receive several revenue streams from the redevelopment project such as revenue from real estate rights.
Strategically located in the heart of New Delhi, the new station will feature dome-shaped terminal buildings as well as two arrival and departure areas at the concourse level.
The complex will include two multi-modal transport hubs on every side, 40-floor high-rise twin towers, and a pedestrian boulevard.
The blueprint of the development plan also includes cycle tracks, pedestrian movement, and green tracks.
The new station will be linked to Delhi-NCR through the Yellow Line and to the Indira Gandhi International Airport via Delhi Metro Airport Express Line.
DTC bus stops will also be present on both sides of the station.
The redeveloped station project will cover an area of 120 hectares, out of which 88 hectares will be planned in phase one of the project. The master plan will be approved by RLDA.
The same PTI report reveals that an Apex Committee has also been created under the chairmanship of the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi for speeding up approvals and clearances.
