Manufacturing operation company Alstom has signed a purchase agreement for the acquisition of Dutch rolling stock maintenance services provider Shunter.
Shunter has employed nearly 110 skilled personnel across three service locations and three maintenance workshops.
Its comprehensive and integrated set of services consist of management and maintenance of rolling stock for passenger and freight transport, and onboard signalling solutions such as damage repair, the performance of maintenance, and alterations.
The company provides maintenance, damage repair and refurbishment services to more than 1,000 railcars a year.
Last year, Shunter’s annual revenue was approximately €20m.
Alstom Benelux managing director Bernard Belvaux said: “We are very enthusiastic to integrate Shunter’s expertise, which is widely recognised by the operators. Shunter’s full maintenance expertise will complement Alstom’s knowledge and installed base in products and solutions. It will enable us to become an even stronger maintenance partner to our customers, increasing availability and reducing the total cost of ownership of their fleets.”
