Air-conditioning and refrigeration manufacturer Blue Star has secured an order worth $36.6m from India-based Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MMRCL).
The order will see Blue Star design, engineer, supply, install and commission an air conditioning, tunnel ventilation and environmental control system.
The system will be deployed at nine underground stations and related tunnels on Mumbai Metro’s Line 3 corridor, which runs between Mumbai Central and Bandra.
In order to implement the project, Blue Star will require water-cooled screw and magnetic bearing chillers, chilled water and condenser water pumps, as well as air handling units.
Additional requirements include fan coil units, ducting, tunnel ventilation fans, and a compressed air system. The company will also perform related electrical work and deploy a supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system.
With space constraints remaining a challenge in Mumbai, the company is required to design, size and place the system within the limited space that is available.
