Bombardier Transportation has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Malaysian Industry Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT) to support the development of expertise in the Malaysia rail industry.
Under the MoU, Bombardier will work with MIGHT to support small and medium sized companies in Malaysia to improve their rail industry skills.
Enterprises operating in the manufacturing, maintenance and operations sector will receive this support.
Bombardier Transportation South East Asia head Jayaram Naidu said: “At Bombardier, we are committed to developing local expertise in the rail industry and investing in the communities where we operate.”
Over the last two years, Bombardier is also working with the university associations in Malaysia to implement a graduation programme in railway technology and develop local talent.
MIGHT president and CEO Dr Mohd Yusoff Sulaiman said: “MIGHT developed the Rail Industry Development Blueprint in 2012 through an industry-government consensus on the future direction for the local rail industry, focusing on securing more business for local players, human capital development as well as research and technology.”
