E-J Electric Installation has won a contract from a tri-venture of firms selected by the US Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) for the delivery of systems, electrical and transmission line work.
The contract has been awarded as part of the $1.9bn expansion of Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) operated by the MTA.
A new 9.8-mile third track will be developed and capacities of the existing tracks of LIRR will be increased, under the agreement.
The expansion is intended to reduce delays and increase the safety and reliability of the rail network.
Polish long-distance train services provider PKP Intercity has awarded a zl31.7m ($8.66m) contract to Alstom to equip its Express InterCity Premium (EIP) trains with Wi-Fi devices.
Under the contract, EIP will be responsible for the installation of Wi-Fi devices and maintenance of the EIP trains for a period of five years.

Russian freight car manufacturing companyUnited Wagon Company (UWC) has reached an agreement with TMH International to strengthen its rail freight operations in South America.
The partnership will work towards the enhancement of integrated freight transport solutions sales and deliveries to South American countries, including Argentina, Uruguay, Bolivia and Paraguay.
The integrated freight transport solutions include locomotives built by JSC Transmashholding, the parent company of TMH International, as well as rail cars and freight components built by UWC.
Iarnród Éireann (Irish Rail) has signed an extension agreement with ISS, a facilities support services provider based in Denmark.
ISS has been offering cleaning services for locomotives, offices, stations and concourses across Ireland since 1997.
The extension agreement enables ISS to retain its existing contract for five more years.
Knorr-Bremse has offloaded its rail vehicle driver training simulator business named Sydac to Oktal, a subsidiary of Sogeclair group.
Otkal has acquired Sydac and its UK subsidiary, along with India-based Sydac Simulation Technologies, under the agreement.
