Germany-based public transport operator VAG Verkehrs-Aktiengesellschaft has awarded a contract to Siemens Mobility for the delivery of six additional type G1 metro trains.
The transport operator has exercised an option for the contract, which was originally signed in December 2015.

Siemens Mobility will be responsible for the supply of 27 metro trains to VAG.
To be deployed on the U1 metro line, the trains will replace 12 Type DT2 two-car trains in 2021.
Deutsche Bahn (DB) has emerged as the preferred bidder in an international tender auction conducted by United Wagon Company (UWC) for the supply of 130 Sggrs80 articulated container flatcars.
The flatcars are expected to be delivered in the first half of 2020.

telent Technology Services has been awarded a £7.6m ($9.71m) HS1 SCSR contract for the modernisation of communication systems across St Pancras International, Stratford International, Ashford, and Ebbsfleet stations on the High Speed 1 (HS1) rail link.
The scope of the contract includes the installation of industry standard assets in place of existing invalid assets across the HS1 stations.
The assets to be installed in the stations include CCTV systems, customer information systems, public address systems, help points and emergency access control systems.
MICA station management system will also be implemented to establish a Wi-Fi-based single control system for the management, monitoring and control of stations.
BEML, a public sector undertaking in India, has been selected as the preferred bidder for the supply of railcars to be operated on the Mumbai Metro Corridor in the state of Maharashtra, India.
The Rs30.15bn ($427.33m) contract involves the delivery of 378 metro cars, which will be arranged into 63 six-car train sets. The metro cars are designed to operate in Mumbai Metro Corridors 2A, 2B and 7. Each train set will have a passenger carrying capacity of 300.
The delivery of the trains is scheduled to start in October 2020 and will be completed by December 2022.
