Engineering service provider Egis, with its local partner Team Consult, has secured a contract for the Bangkok metro’s ‘Pink Line’ in Thailand.
Egis will work as a project consultant for the THB53.5bn (nearly €1.3bn) Pink Line Monorail project for a three-year period as part of the deal.
The Pink Line will be developed under a public-private partnership (PPP) and has been conceived as part of the ‘Mass Rapid Transit Master Plan’ (M-MAP), which aims to improve the public transport network across the Bangkok metropolitan region.
The 34.5km-long Pink Line is slated to run between the north-western province of Nonthaburi and Bangkok.
It will also offer connections with the Dark Red railway line, the Purple and Orange metro lines and the elevated Sukhumvit Line, which forms part of the Bangkok Mass Transit System (BMTS).
The Pink Line is scheduled to receive 42 Bombardier trains that will be capable of operating at a maximum commercial speed of 80km/h.
