Kapsch CarrierCom has completed the implementation of its Global System for Mobile Communications-Railway (GSM-R) across Luxembourg’s 271km-long railway network.
The works for national railway company Société Nationale Des Chemins De Fer Luxembourgeois (CFL) took three years to complete.
In 2015, Kapsch rolled out the all-IP solution RDN.core, which is built on the third Generation Partnership Project Release 4. The RDN.core is a communications application used by rail operators.
The deployment will enable secure and reliable communications among all railway operational staff, including train drivers, station controllers and dispatchers.
Kapsch CarrierCom CEO Kari Kapsch said: “With the completion of the implementation of the project in Luxembourg, we closed the last white spot of the GSM-R coverage in the Benelux countries.
“Once again we made a big step towards the standardisation of railway communication in Europe, which means more efficient and safer railway traffic across European countries and borders.”
