Alstom has delivered its new Smartlock 400 signalling interlocking technology to the Serbian Railway Company in collaboration with the Serbian Mihajlo Pupin Institute.
The project integrates the Smartlock solution with new equipment designed and produced by the Mihajlo Pupin Institute.
Russian RZD International awarded the project to Alstom.
Alstom Romania, Bulgaria and Republic of Moldova managing director Gabriel Stanciu said: “We are extremely proud to have succeeded in delivering this pioneering project in just 20 months together with our local partner, the Mihajlo Pupin Institute, in a challenging environment.
"This is one of the first implementations of a modern interlocking system in Serbia, where the signalling and operating rules are very different from other European countries."
Eight out of 17 lines at Pancevo Railway Station are dedicated exclusively for freight transport and rehabilitation of the station is the first step towards reconstructing a total of 20km of Serbian railway line connecting Pancevo and Belgrade.

Alstom’s Romania team was responsible for the engineering and project management while the products delivery and project coordination was taken over by the team in Bologna, Italy.
