A consortium of Ansaldo STS and Linbrooke Services has secured a £34.5m contract from UK rail infrastructure manager Network Rail (NR) to resignal the Ferriby-Gilberdyke line with computer-based interlocking technology.
Of the total contract value, £15.15m is allocated for Ansaldo STS, while the remaining £19.35m will go to Linbrooke.
As part of the deal, the CBI technology will be installed to upgrade seven main stations, which are served along 35 miles between Ferriby and Gilberdyke.
Ansaldo’s interlocking technology has already been installed on High Speed 1 (HS1) and Cambrian Lines.
The Cambrian Line runs from from Shrewsbury to Welshpool, Aberystwyth and Pwllheli in Wales.
As the consortium leader, Ansaldo STS will be responsible for the SEI CBI signalling system design and supply, as well as axle counter system design, supply and integration.

By GlobalDataThe deal will see Linbrooke deliver the signalling and power construction works, the telecommunications system design and construction, and will be the overall UK Tester in Charge.
The project is scheduled to be commissioned in March 2018.
Last month, Ansaldo STS won a $31.5m contract from the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LACMTA) in the US, to design, furnish, test and commission a signalling and train control (S&TC) system for its West Side Subway Extension.
The extension will be around 3.9 miles from its existing terminus at Wilshire/Western Station to a new Wilshire/La Cienega station, and include three new stations.
The new S&TC system will be designed to provide safe and efficient movement of trains along the extension’s mainline and interlocked tracks.
