US-based CSX Transportation has signed an agreement to continue to serve as one of Schneider’s primary rail providers.
In 2008, when CSX became Schneider’s primary Eastern rail provider, the companies have continued to improve their performance to deliver ‘truck-like’ service to shippers.
Schneider Intermodal senior vice-president and general manager Jim Filter said: “Renewing our relationship with CSX allows us to continue providing the exceptional service that our customers expect from Schneider Intermodal.
“By combining the expertise of one of the country’s largest intermodal providers and one of the country’s major railroads, Schneider has been able to provide creative solutions to more efficiently move intermodal freight with truck-like service.”
With the new agreement, Schneider customers will receive increased capacity and operational interfaces that are designed to increase accessibility of rail moves.
CSX has also made capital investments in projects such as the Northwest Ohio Intermodal Terminal that have improved its infrastructure and facilitated expanded service offerings.
