Intelligent security analytical technology provider Duos Technologies Group has received a Letter of Intent (LoI) to award a purchase order from New York City (NYC) Transit for the provision of a turnkey system to test new technologies that will alert when persons or objects enter onto NYC Transit system's tracks.
The turnkey system will be delivered as a part of NYC Transit's comprehensive pilot programme to assess new technologies.
Duos Technologies senior vice-president and chief sales officer Felix Krupczynski said: “Leveraging our experience in the development of many successful, cutting-edge railroad technology systems, we are honoured to be chosen to utilise our intelligent technology platforms for this very important pilot programme.
“Monitoring and maintaining a safe and secure environment for New York City Transit riders and staff is a paramount focus of the agency and we're excited to demonstrate a solution that can meet the stringent demands of safety required for mass deployment.”
The system will leverage redundant, multi-layered sensor technologies along with Duos Technologies' praesidium analytics software to maximise the reliability and accuracy of track intrusion detections processes.
The design will also provide value-added capabilities to identify End of Platform intrusions.

By GlobalDataDuos Technologies Group CEO Gianni Arcaini said: “NYC Transit alone suffered over 350 incidents between 1 January 2011 through February 2013, of which 129 were fatalities.
“In addition to the impact such accidents have on the personal lives of families and employees, consequential delays of the respective rail lines cause significant disruption to passengers and rail operations.”
NYC Transit will evaluate and assess various such technologies under the pilot initiative before the final selection.
The chosen technology will be installed on more than 1,500 tracks across approximately 450 NYC Transit subway stations.
