High Speed Two (HS2), the company responsible for the development of the UK's high-speed rail network, has launched a bidding process for construction teams to assist in the delivery of new stations at Euston and Old Oak Common in London.
Interested bidders will be able to submit the tenders for both the stations before the end of the year, and the contracts are scheduled to be awarded in the second half of 2018.
The announcement was made following the closure of Euston station last weekend in order to carry out essential HS2 preparatory works.
The winning bidders will act as construction partners and be responsible for programme management, procuring, integrating and managing the supply chains.
UK Transport Minister Paul Maynard said: “The launch of the search for construction teams to build the southern HS2 stations is another major step towards making Britain’s new railway a catalyst for growth across the country, and next year HS2 will begin the hunt for companies to build the two Birmingham stations.”
The network's construction phase is expected to create around 4,000 jobs, while a further 700 personnel will be employed following the commencement of operations.

By GlobalDataHS2 intends to develop a new integrated transport hub at Old Oak Common to enable smooth connections throughout the network.
The new platforms will allow passengers to connect to Crossrail, Heathrow and the City of London, including services to Wales and the western part of England.
Additionally, 11 new platforms will be built at Euston as part of a two-phase development, which is expected to triple the station's capacity, facilitate more comfortable journeys and support 14,000 new jobs.
The HS2 network will connect more than 25 destinations in the UK and serve nearly 30 million people across the country once complete.
