China’s Shanghai Railway Bureau has installed Wi-Fi across eight railway stations throughout the city with the support of Wi-Fi technology provider Ruckus Wireless.

With a total coverage area of 400,000m², this new development will benefit more than 110,000 registered users of the Railway’s new i-station information system.

The public Ruckus Smart Wi-Fi network comprises more than 600 Ruckus ZoneFlex indoor access points (APs), which are individually able to serve 500 concurrent users and the APs are managed through Ruckus ZoneDirector Smart Wireless LAN (WLAN) controllers.

Shanghai Railway Bureau operates around 11,000km of railways, more than 1,500km of inter-city railways and 503 stations, in addition to 17 stations in Shanghai, Jiangsu, Anhui and Zhejiang provinces.
