Singapore’s Land Transport Authority has awarded S$1.15bn ($917.3m) worth of civil, electrical and mechanical contracts for the Thomson and Eastern Region Lines in the country.
Included in the contracts is construction of Mt Pleasant, Stevens and Maxwell stations; and installation of communications system, signalling system and platform screen doors for the two mass rapid transit (MRT) lines.
RSEA Engineering Corporation has secured S$207m ($165.12m) contract for the construction of Mt Pleasant station and its associated tunnels, which will serve as the fifth Civil Defence shelter along the Thomson Line.
Daewoo Engineering & Construction will be responsible for the construction of Stevens station and its associated tunnels, under a contract that is valued at around S$441m ($351.8m), while Hock Lian Seng Infrastructure has been awarded S$222m ($177m) contract for building Maxwell station.
Stevens station will serve as an interchange station between the Thomson Line with Downtown Line.
Work on all stations is slated to begin in the second quarter of this year and is expected to be complete by 2021.

By GlobalDataThe S$159m ($126.8) contract to GE Singapore/GE Transportation Systems/GE Transportation France/GE Transportation Systems Global Signaling Consortium includes design, manufacturing, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the signalling system and platform screen doors for the entire Thomson and Eastern Region Lines.
Meanwhile, Singapore Technologies Electronics will provide communications system including communications backbone network, digital trunked radio, video surveillance, public address, telephone and travel information systems for the Thomson and Eastern Region Lines, under an S$124 ($98.9m) contract.
