US-based risk management company SmartDrive Systems has received a new patent for its rail solution.
The SmartDrive Rail solution uses accelerometer-based technology and works in line with rail vehicle safety systems to detect high-risk manoeuvres that fall outside normal operating parameters.
This solution can be used to improve rail safety and support agencies to comply with government regulations. The technologies are integrated within SmartDrive Rail, facilitating rail agencies with critical insight into safety risks.
It will also help the agencies enhance safety performance through video, rail-specific risk scoring, and intuitive coaching workflows.
SmartDrive’s CEO Steve Mitgang said: "Continuous innovation is at the heart of everything we do at SmartDrive and a core focus of our research and development investments.
"Rail operations are appropriately bound by stringent safety regulations and our flexible open platform makes us uniquely qualified to meet the distinct safety of transit agencies across rail, bus, and paratransit."
