Caterpillar subsidiary Progress Rail has completed the acquisition of global railway signalling technology provider ECM.
The financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Italy-based ECM will become a part of Progress Rail’s existing signal division as part of the development, while continuing to conduct its signal production and engineering operations at its facility in Pistoia.
Progress Rail president and CEO Billy Ainsworth said: “Broadening our signal portfolio will enable Progress Rail to better serve our customers.
“ECM’s products and services provide the best platform to leverage Progress Rail’s existing global network to bring advanced signal technologies to rail customers and further expand into international markets.”
ECM is primarily engaged in the design, manufacture and provision of advanced signal systems and products, including computer-based interlocking and automatic train protection systems.
