Construction of a production plant in Huni Valley, in Ghana
The railway sleepers will be installed for expansion and new construction of the 700-kilometre Western and Central Railway Line in the West Afri-can country of Ghana. The line leads from the port city of Takoradi on the southern coast of the country, northward to the border with Burkina Faso. RAIL.ONE Group will construct a sleeper production plant in-country, in Huni Valley, Ghana, with an investment volume of €7 million. The plant, with construction scheduled to begin in mid-2008, will feature the most advanced in production and plant-facilities technology, and will create 130 new jobs in the region.
It is planned to produce approx. 400,000 concrete sleepers annually in this plant. In the construction of such plants, RAIL.ONE draws on its long years of experience in such business. The company is the only provider of industrial systems and solutions that can offer four different production processes for concrete sleepers, which can be modified in accordance with individual project re-quirements. The combination of plant engineering and production exper-tise, in addition, guarantees for the customer the required top level of quality standards.
This new project is the first contract for RAIL.ONE Group in Africa, and signifies its entry into a further international market. Through the cultivation of a long-term partnership with KAMPAC Oil Group, this process promises attractive opportunities for further development of business. For Richard Ziegler, Managing Director (CEO) of RAIL.ONE GmbH, this contract is further verification of the high level of competency of the company in concrete-sleeper technology. Ziegler said: “At the same time, we will also support local added value through integration into the regional industry and the creation of new jobs.”
Only a few weeks earlier, RAIL.ONE Group signed a joint-venture agree-ment for delivery of approx. 850,000 main-track sleepers, as well as 35,000 linear metres of turnout sleepers for a major rail-infrastructure project in Saudi Arabia.
