Just before Christmas, RAIL.ONE has completed deliveries of about 4,000 bi-block sleepers and other related system components for the first RHEDA 2000® installation in Serbia – the Cortanovci Tunnel.
The tunnel is part of the reconstruction, modernization and construction of a double-track railway line that runs from Belgrade via Stara Pazova, Novi Sad and Subotica all the way to the State Border with Hungary, whereas the tunnel itself is located on the Stara Pazova and Novi Sad railway line. Designed for train speeds up to 200km/h, the tunnel has a total length of about 2.3km. To comply with the client’s drainage concept, RAIL.ONE has produced specially designed shortened RHEDA 2000 bi-block sleepers, which perfectly and reliably address the special requirements on site.
RAIL.ONE’s supply contract has been awarded by RZD International, which has concluded a contract with Serbian Railways for the construction of the railway line. RZD International started track works in early December 2020 and plans to finish until mid of 2021.
RHEDA 2000 system is one of the world’s most widely applied ballastless track systems for both high-speed and high-performance railway lines and has been installed on over 4,500km of railway lines in Europe, Middle East and Asia. All RHEDA 2000 bi-block sleepers for the Cortanovci Tunnel were produced in RAIL.ONE’s facility in Coswig, Germany, and then transported via truck to the Cortanovci Tunnel construction site in Serbia.
“We are glad to support another important tunnel project with our reliable slab track solution and especially joyful having entered the Serbian market with providing the proven and successful RHEDA 2000 solution simultaneously meeting the clients special requirements. It was always a pleasure working with RZD International and we are looking forward to potential future projects,” underlines Torsten Bode, CSO of PCM RAIL.ONE AG.
