ADIF Alta Velocidad has awarded the consortium of CAF Signalling, Revenga Ingenieros and FCC Industrial e Infraestructuras Energéticas a €98.6m contract to develop Vandellós-Tarragona section of the Mediterranean Corridor and its connection with the High Speed Madrid-Barcelona-French border.

This contract consists of project execution and 20 years maintenance of signalling installations, Level 2 ERTMS train protection systems, fixed telecommunication systems, centralised traffic control and auxiliary safety and protection systems.

Vandellós-Tarragona section spans approximately 65km. Infrastructure highlights include Rojales tunnel (1.9km long) and Francolí viaduct (1.2km) along with L’Hospitalet de l’Infant station and train sidings at Mont-roig del Camp and Cambrils.

For CAF Signalling, as project leader, this contract marks an important milestone and a qualitative step towards consolidation of its strategy, as it involves implementing a new ERTMS system with in-house technology, AURIGA ERTMS.
