Rail depot equipment manufacturer, Mechan, is returning to this year’s Railtex exhibition in May to introduce industry colleagues to its new owners, France’s CIM Group.
The Sheffield-based heavy lifting and handling specialist is expecting a record number of visitors to its stand at the UK’s largest railway trade fair, following its recent acquisition.
Mechan announced in March it had become part of the CIM Group, experts in the design and realisation of railway infrastructure supply and construction projects. It will be based on stand N10 at Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre (NEC) from 9-11 May to explain more about the link up.
The stand’s centrepiece will be a fully functional example of the firm’s flagship lifting jacks, showcasing its build quality and market leading Megalink control system. The patented technology allows an unlimited number of units to be synchronised and operated by just one person.
Information on Mechan’s entire product range, including its wheel lathes and presses, will also be available, along with the European innovations it supplies to the UK and Ireland. For example, the handheld CALIPRI laser measuring device, which will be on display for delegates to see in action.
Richard Carr, Mechan’s managing director, said: "We love catching up with colleagues old and new at this popular bi-annual exhibition and I’m sure delegates will have plenty of questions for our team about CIM. We were pleased to secure the same stand we had in 2015, close to the main entrance and thanks to our giant yellow jack, visitors are unlikely to miss us!"
