Large format LED customer information screens (CIS) have been provided by Infotec for Abbey Wood Station, which is currently used by Southeastern’s North Kent services and will also become an important stop on the Crossrail line.

The double-sided P1143 displays which serve as three-line next train indicators (NTI) with clock have been installed on the new Crossrail North Kent Line platform which, in the short term, is replacing the former platform 1.

Abbey Wood in South East London is being completely redeveloped as a result of the need to accommodate two new dedicated Crossrail tracks. The new station will have two island platforms, one each for Crossrail and North Kent services.

Infotec has supplied more than a dozen displays for Abbey Wood to fulfil an order placed by Fone Alarm Installations.

Fone Alarm Installations Limited has been contracted by Balfour Beatty to deliver the communications works scope package for Abbey Wood Station.

Around 200 million passengers will travel on Crossrail each year and the route will provide a 10% increase to rail capacity in the capital.

Infotec is involved with the huge Crossrail project elsewhere, having been awarded the contract to design and manufacture TFT displays for nine stations on the central section.

The Crossrail stations are paying careful regard to passengers with visual and hearing impairments and features of Infotec’s products will assist with this. The NTI displays for the central stations are to be located above the platform edge doors, making them easy for passengers to locate and read.

The Crossrail work has been awarded to Infotec by fellow Ashby-based Siemens, who are responsible for the Crossrail Control and Communications Contract.
