The industry partner ContiTech, part of the global technology company Continental, has acquired Sydney-based Australian railway engineering specialist Vulcanite, thereby strengthening its business outside the automotive industry.

"The acquisition fits perfectly with our company’s strategy and at the same time opens up additional growth potential in the railway business for air springs," explained Claus-Peter Spille, head of the Air Spring Systems business unit. Vulcanite employs around 60 people and is well positioned in Australia and in the US. It also has a state-of-the-art production facility in Seremban, Malaysia, founded in 2012.

Vulcanite is a design and manufacturing organisation, partnering with three of the world’s four leading railway rolling stock builders and three of the world’s major vibratory piling hammer manufacturers to provide flexible engineering solutions. Vulcanite designs and manufactures components used to isolate mechanically induced vibration. Engineering solutions are created using rubber and steel-molded composites.
