From November 1 to 4, ContiTech Railway Engineering will be showcasing its products at Metro China in Beijing, China. The manufacturer of suspension systems for rail vehicles will be exhibiting at booth A155 in hall 1. ContiTech Railway Engineering’s presentation will focus on ultramodern air spring systems for primary and secondary suspension. MEGI®-brand hydro springs, conical springs and buffers will also be on display.

ContiTech is among the frontrunners in the booming Chinese economy. The company’s unit ContiTech Railway Engineering has been doing business in China for more than 30 years, equipping rail vehicles with primary and secondary suspension systems. ContiTech air spring systems have been deployed in the high-tech Velaro China, CRH3-380 and Zefiro CRH1-380 trains as well as the Maglev (Transrapid) and Chinastar.

ContiTech is also strongly represented in subway trains in the country’s large metropolitan areas. Its equipment is at work in trains on Shanghai’s 11 metro lines, for example, but also in the metro systems in Nan-Jing, Guangzhou and Shenzhen. The hub of ContiTech Railway Engineering’s operations in China is its state-of-the-art plant in Changshu, from which it supplies the Chinese and Asian market.

As a development partner and manufacturer for original equipment, ContiTech Railway Engineering develops complete suspension concepts and system solutions for primary and secondary suspension systems. High-quality materials and material combinations help to meet the most stringent requirements regarding safety, comfort, speed, vehicle noise reduction and the economic efficiency of freight and passenger transport. The weight of the suspension systems also plays a key role here. ContiTech develops aluminum components that reduce weight by up to 40% compared with conventional steel components – a factor that is also in line with today’s trend toward energy efficiency. These weight savings allow for a larger load gap and reduce energy consumption during empty runs.

ContiTech’s streamlined sales network ensures that rail vehicle operators receive rapid assistance if any suspension problems occur. Whether in China, the UK or Brazil, ContiTech engineers or service partners can be on site wherever they need to be within just a short time to rectify damage to rail vehicle suspension systems or to assist with servicing issues.

"We’re the only ones in the rail vehicle suspension sector able to offer this kind of immediate help worldwide. We are able to do so thanks to our many service providers," notes Friedrich Hoppmann, head of the ContiTech Railway Engineering segment.
