MERMEC Group, the leader in cutting-edge solutions for the high-speed railway industry, has won two contracts with State Railways of the Republic of Turkey (TCDD) to supply several advanced measuring systems for the permanent way and overhead line inspection.
With these new contracts, worth €9m, seven out of nine high-speed diagnostic trains in the world are now powered by MERMEC Group diagnostic technology.
"We are able to provide some undeniable advantages to high-speed railways," says MERMEC Group CEO Silvano Brandi. "High speed lines measurement can be very different than that of conventional lines due to the high accuracy required and the complex interaction between train and infrastructure influencing the measurement. These challenges require superior know-how in railway domain and system integration, which the MERMEC Group is able to provide."
A unique high-speed diagnostic train in the Middle East
The systems will be installed on one of the coaches of a high-speed train in revenue service. The coach will have a dedicated control room for a technical crew to allow for real-time display of data from the measuring systems.
The train, unique in the Middle East, will control the operational efficiency of the newly opened Ankara-Istanbul passenger line, evaluating the infrastructure’s compliance with safety standards as well as train’s ride quality and onboard comfort. Joining the exclusive "high-speed club" and adopting the most sophisticated technologies available for preventive maintenance of the new lines, TCDD becomes even more a reference of excellence in the area and in the world.
The TCDD is the state corporation operating the public railway system in Turkey. Founded in 1927, the railway network operates around 8,700km of railway lines.
The MERMEC Group is an industry leader and innovator developing technology to advance safety, efficiency and availability of railway and rapid transit networks worldwide.
