In 2021, the biggest Ukrainian manufacturer of rolling stock PJSC “Kryukovsky Railway Car Building Works” (KRCBW) began the designing freight cars for the European market, in conformity with TSI WAG requirements. The first two types are the Sggrss 80’ intermodal car and the Sggmrss 90’ intermodal car. Both cars are intended for the transportation of different types of containers and can swap bodies in conformity with different layouts.
At the middle of 2022, the prototypes of 80’ car have successfully passed through the homologation tests, and the tests reports and other documents were provided to NoBo in order to prove the TSI WAG and TSI NOISE conformity. The next step is the type approval process at ERA and operation acceptation by the European railway network. The serial manufacturing of the cars is planned to begin in the first quarter of 2023.
The prototypes of the 90’ car will be ready for homologation testing in the third quarter of 2022 and the continuing and finishing of whole homologation process will be completed in 2023.
In addition to the two mentioned car types, KRCBW has plans for designing more specific freight cars on demand for the EU market and is ready to take corresponding orders from European partners.
