Alstom Belgium tests and validates its ERTMS systems thanks to a very accurate Compact Simulator that we delivered.
The custom-made solution, located in Charleroi (Belgium), is optimal for Alstom to test its railway control systems such as ERTMS. The simulator also proves to be an appealing asset as customers and prospects can easily try out the systems.
For this project, we simulated the Alstom passenger train model AM96 and provided the rail transportation company with a 3D infrastructure of 15km of generic tracks as well as a library of ERTMS signals and balises.
We also integrated in collaboration with Alstom its EVC and ERTMS DMI software interfaces within the compact simulator. Transurb simulation system interacts in real-time with the Alstom interface.
This highly realistic solution allows Alstom to simulate all kinds of realistic situations while driving with ERTMS. Furthermore, Alstom designed a control station from which it can develop algorithms and try out its autopilot system on the simulator.
This way, various operational scenarios can be tested. The constructor can also observe variables such as the energy consumption of its trains in order to improve them.
Thanks to the Compact, all kinds of tests can be carried out as if on the network but in offices and without any security issues.
