Cannon Technologies is one of the world’s leading suppliers of Network Rail (PADS) approved indoor and outdoor cabinets, enclosures, cabins and thermal protection systems for communications, electrical and electronic equipment.
Network Rail’s infrastructure uses Cannon Technologies’ outdoor solutions in signalling, stations information and security systems (SISS), customer information systems (CIS), communications and network systems.
Outdoor cabinets, enclosures, IP65,and active cooling technologies
Cannon Technologies’ outdoor cabinet range provides a secure, temperature-controlled, single or multi-chamber environment for electronic and electrical equipment. The cabinets are designed to save space and be cost-effective.
Cabinets are sealed up to IP65, and can be tailor-made to suit customers’ precise requirements, including physical size, copper and fibre management, and EMC shielding where applicable. They are also manufactured from a core material with a life expectancy exceeding 25 years, and can be painted to meet specific customer requests.
The cabinets also protect equipment from dust, humidity, rain, moisture, and vandalism.

IP65-rated cabinets for rail projects
The Cannon S104800 cabinet has been designed to house server, electrical and electronic equipment for use in communications, transportation and rail infrastructure projects including GSM-R, SISS, CIS, CCTV, communications, and networking.
The IP65 enclosure is based on principals defined in RT / E / PS / 00028 Network Rail Product Specification. The main trackside housing incorporates an equipment chamber, and an independently accessible battery chamber.
Cabinets for apparatus
Also known as the ‘Location Case’, Cannon Technologies’ apparatus cabinet is rated IP55, and available in full-width (1,064mm) and half-width (628mm) sizes. The full-width cabinet has a pair of full-height lockable doors at the front and the rear, whereas the half-width version has a single full-height lockable door.
A customer-supplied padlock secures the heavy-duty lever hasp / swing handle located at the centre of the door. The base of the cabinet is designed to match NR pre-cast concrete block numbers BRS-SC 31 and 32.
Integrated outdoor railway enclosure and temperature control systems
Cannon’s broad experience has been fundamental to the development of a wide range of integrated outdoor railway / trackside enclosure systems. In addition to cabinets, the company offers thermal and diagnostic systems.
These include solutions incorporating ambient and forced air cooling, air-conditioning units, monitored by our CannonGuard surveillance system.
CannonGuard, remote access control and security systems
The Cannon high-security stainless steel lock is designed to accept the company’s upgrade pack, which converts the installation to an electronic locking system. This system is remotely controlled by our CannonGuard security system, enabling remote lock activation worldwide.
Together with two-way audio, video surveillance systems assist with on-the-spot engineering guidance. Full alarm and audit trail capability increases security, and records alarm or intrusion activation.
Additional features include remote-access control, and alarms for security breaches or out-of-tolerance conditions. These provide mission-critical infrastructure with superior monitoring and system management.
Monitoring and alarm warnings for critical issues, including temperature, humidity, flood, shock, security, smoke and fire, can be combined with early system failure warnings. These enable rapid response times to maintain service, security and safety.
