After an intense period of tests, Alcan Composite Structures’ aluminium-sandwich
modules (for roofs, floors, sidewalls and intermediate floors) have been verified as fulfilling the requirements of the new European fire safety standard EN 45545, level HL3. Its GFK-front caps are in the final stage of verification, having reached level HL2 (both inside and outside).
Every country has its local fire safety specifications for railway vehicles, but these are being supplemented by the new EN 45545 European fire safety standard. The draft of the norm is now in the European Commission for approval and is expected to become obligatory in 2011. Alcan Composite Structures is already receiving enquiries for products demanding the fulfilment of the new European fire safety standard in addition to local standards.
With its forward-looking and future-oriented way of thinking, developing and working, Alcan Composite Structures continually strengthens its leading position in the railway market.
