Vice President of Sales, Wolfgang Pesec, and Customer Care Representative, Vanessa Wundersamer, both of voestalpine Rail Technology GmbH, reflected on the project’s success: ”Everything went perfectly—technically, logistically, and organizationally. This challenging project was not only a triumph in terms of delivery but also a great team-building experience within voestalpine Railway Systems Group.”

The project involved an initial test delivery of the special BS90A(M) rail profile. The 501 tons of rails, each 108 meters long, were shipped from voestalpine Rail Technology in Donawitz to voestalpine Track Solutions in Hilversum, Netherlands. There, the rails were expertly coated and cut to 18 meters in length. Given the intricate nature of the coating process, meticulous planning and coordination between the sister companies were essential. Robert Baier from voestalpine Rail Technology’s special logistics team developed a sophisticated packaging concept to prevent surface damage during transport, which was effectively implemented by voestalpine Track Solutions Netherlands. The final shipment saw 50% of the rails transported by truck to Antwerp and the other 50% to Bremerhaven for onward transport to Hong Kong.

Throughout the production, coating, and delivery phases, the project exemplified the strong international collaboration and team spirit within voestalpine Railway Systems Group. The combined expertise of the teams played a crucial role in the success of this complex project. Local support was provided by Jane Wong, Vice President – Sales Office Hongkong, who was on the ground in Hong Kong to ensure everything ran smoothly.

This project not only demonstrated voestalpine Railway Systems’ capability to manage demanding projects but also set the stage for future endeavors.

As we look ahead, this achievement serves as a solid foundation for expanding our international project portfolio, reinforcing our reputation as a reliable partner and system provider in the global railway industry.
