RAIL.ONE Group, leading international manufacturer of concrete sleepers and systems provider for railtrack infrastructure, will participate in an extensive supply contract for turnout sleepers for new construction of the high-speed rail line between Erfurt and Leipzig-Halle, Germany, for the section between Erfurt and Gröbers. The construction project is scheduled for completion by the end of 2013.

Beginning in August of this year and up to and including April 2013, RAIL.ONE will deliver almost 22,000m of turnout sleepers for the double-track section of the line. Production of the Type GWS 05-300W is planned for the Rail One plant in Brandenburg-Kirchmöser.

Now, after successful trial of the new track for ballastless turnouts, they will be employed on tracks in regular operation. With this uniform track from the System 300 series for main-track and turnout areas, stiffness characteristics can be individually matched, which will assure greater ride comfort for speeds up to 300km per hour.

The new high-speed line from Erfurt to Leipzig-Halle is one section of the extended and newly constructed line, approximately 500km long, from Erfurt to Leipzig-Halle and on to Berlin. The section from Gröbers to Leipzig has been in operation since 2003, and was built for a length of 4km with the RHEDA 2000 ballastless track system.

Gundolf Spitzner, vice president sales at RAIL.ONE, said, "The Rheda system has until now been installed in 13 countries over more than 2,600km of track, as well as over 150 turnouts and rail expansion joints. In addition, the RHEDA 2000 system is the only ballastless track system that has obtained general approval from the German Federal Railway Authority (EBA) for main-track and turnout zones."
