The brand-new DC/DC converter series PWRC300 from MTM Power follows the trend in rolling stock manufacturing of saving weight wherever possible. The design of this series focused on creating a light and compact power supply, resulting in an outstandingly low weight, compared to similar products.

Based on the well-proven push-pull topology, the typical input voltages within rolling stock applications are converted to a constant output voltage of 24V. With its constant current/constant voltage characteristic, the output power rating of 300W is able to handle loads with difficult switch-on characteristics, and it also allows battery charging.  The built-in decoupling diode enables the converter to be used in parallel and redundant operation.

Equipped with a primarily referenced control input, the converters of the PWRC300 series have an energy-saving standby mode, leading to a longer battery lifetime. The converters are optimised to an efficiency of 92%, following the ‘plug-and-play’ philosophy of using converters from MTM POWER without adding external components. The PWRC300 series offers cage clamp connectors, which are now standard in railway applications. Free convection cooling within an operating temperature range of -40°C to +70°C is achieved via the converter’s base plate mounted onto a surface that ensures proper heat dissipation.

Designed for rolling stock applications, the converters of the PWRC300 series fulfil all requirements in regards to the applicable EN 50 155, EN 50 124, EN 50121-3-2 and EN 45545-2 standards.
